Is this 2 different loops or the same loop twice?

120 miles? Holy Smokes! That's way to far for me...

My little brother and I have been talking about doing a team race for a while, this might be the race...

You can do it DJ. Just pace yourself and remember a desert race is like a marathon and that a lot of people treat it like a sprint. After not racing for 22 years I raced the 50th anniversary of Cherry Creek a couple of years ago and managed a respectable finish by just pacing myself......and your in a hell of a lot better shape than I am.

If it's 2 different loops for the bikes, then do we need 2 gas jugs, 1 for each loop?

I have not seen the loops yet but I am going to say yes since there will not be common course.

I hope there is no common course...I know the shorter loops with multiple laps make it easier on the clubs (and the BLM like them better), but its nice to not have to race the same course multiple times-it doesn't get as beat up. I'm not complaining about the clubs, at all, I'll happily race whatever course they put out there, without complaining.

I can't imagine the time and effort the club put into marking, and negotiating with the BLM a full 120 miles....that's unbelievable. May the moto-gods forever smile in the direction of the sageriders....

A Hare and Hound is 2 or more unique loops. A Hare Scrambles is generally the same loop multiple times.

That's cool. I've never raced a Hare & Hound, so I guess I need to acquire another jug, for fuel. Thanks, Kevin

Yes there are 2 separate loops, if your racing big bikes you will not see the same terrain twice except for the last little bit right before the pits and the finish. Bring 2 extra gas cans and please write your bike # on them. ATV's and UTV's do the first loop 2 times, so they just need one extra gas can (make sure its big enough for 2 fill ups). Hopefully the weather will be a little better this year. Mini's should have a fun ride. Their course has good mix of riding types, the kids will sleep good Saturday night. It Should be a good day of racing!!
See you at the races!

Just as a friendly reminder - The SageRiders have put in a lot of effort to have 4 wheelers and side x sides competing on the first loop (twice). Can you give us an indication of who will be there and how many so we can plan accordingly. The first loop (and only loop for the four wheelers and Sxs's) is very friendly for these vehicles (not saying easy!!). the second loop is for motorcycles only and will be tighter. Remember to have your utah registrations and you will be required to sign up for the AMA for this event - just don't want you to be suprised! The loop will be going around the litle sahara park with minimal dunes but lots of sand with vegitation - good running and dust should be at a minimum, especially if we get Firebirds weather. Great job on briding the rains Gods! hope to see at the races.

Sage Riders National May 5th Please Read 2 years 4 months ago #121144

Very important information regarding our race on May 5th.

1. All ATV’s must be equipped with a tethered kill switch so as to kill the motor if the rider becomes separated from the machine.
2. Novice must run Green Backgrounds with White Number. You may not run White Background with Green Number.

The weather's looking pretty good for the race! :woohoo:

I heard some talk that the Big bike-Novice will only do 1 loop. Can someone confirm or deny this?
I need to plan for gas cans.
Thanks

Loop 2 will close 1 hour after the leading NOVICE starts loop 2. So novices will do loop 2 if they are less than 1 hour behind the NOVICE leader after completing loop 1. Last I have heard that is how it will be per NHHA request. We will be handing out an info sheet at sign ups along with fender tapes and bar codes. I will update if I find out anything different.

Does anyone know how far it will be to the two gas stops from the start and on the second loop to the second gas stop?
Thank You Ted
