Buzzards Fall Race 7 years 1 month ago #16458

Earlier this week a few of us added 6 more miles to the SUPER SECRET, fall race course. it looks as if we will have right at 30 miles for the loop.
The terrain is very much like Jerico without the endless whoops and BLM issues.
It has a little of everything, with some great washes.
I will warn you that it is NOT like the private property that we have been able to use in the Jerico area. This is a closed area where we get to race. We will NOT be able to ride there at any other time.
None the less, this will be a great race. Don't miss it.
More info will follow as we get closer to the date.
See you then,
Big \"Fat\" Jimmy

if this is a \"working cattle ranch\" then will the race be in conjunction with moving the cattle off the summer range? and will we have to bring in five cattle or get a dnf?

Just an update on the fall race.
We rode the course again last Saturday, made a few changes and what a blast.
We are looking at a 30 mile loop, to be done twice. 12 to 15 miles for the Mini's
The terrain is VERY technical and 60 miles will feel like more.
For those of you that have raced Buzzards events that I have chaired in the past might remember that I like rocks and HATE sand. You will not be disappointed.
See you there,
Fat Jimmy

UPDATE:
We (the Buzzards) have changed our other mind, we will NOT be having an unclassified race on the Friday before the race after all.
This will leave the course in much better shape for Saturday.
We are going out again this Saturday and I will provide an update after that.

Here is another update....
Last Wednesday there was a lightning strike fire on the area where the race will take place. I will just say that ALOT of people responded to help put it out. One very motivated desert racer jumped on a dozer and cut a fire break all the way around the fire. That and the fast response of the fire crews and bombers is what saved our fall race.
We went out last Saturday and rode the course to survey any damage. we had about 300 yards or so of course burn.
So everything is still on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will tell you this, the rocks grow during the week and we throw them off of the course on the weekends but remember no SAND and no WHOOPS.
Great stuff, typical Buzzards race.
Don't miss it,
More to come.

3 weeks and counting............
We went out and spent the day picking rocks from the \"Rock Garden\", putting the finishing touches on the Mini course and just riding, you guys and gals are going to have a blast!!!!!
Tom Shivers and Bruce Hansen ran it at speed and we are looking at 1hr plus lap times.
Still no sand or whoops to be seen...
See you all there.

We hope everyone is looking forward to the Buzzard race in Snowville. For your information, Snowville has 2 cafe's in town (Mollies & Ranch House Diner). There are 2 gas stations (Flying J & Chevron). There is a Subway inside the Chevron. Last we heard the one and only motel in Snowville (The Outsider Inn) has 4 rooms still available. Their # is 435-872-8514. There will also be concessions at the race site Saturday. They will be put on as a fundraiser by the Bear River High School Drill Team. There will be hot chocolate & donuts in the morning and sloppy joes and drinks in the afternoon. See ya at the race!

MMMMMMM…. Donuts….. :)

That sounds pretty cool. A nice Sloppy Joe after the race will be much better than my usual warm, smashed PB&J that I typically don’t eat…

If your comment is serious, then I have a suggestion................................
Let's allow the Buzzards to decide where / when / how to put on their races and let's allow YOU and YOUR club to decide where / when / how to put on YOUR club's races.
That way we have a really good variety of terrain. So, which club are YOU in?
If your comment was just sarcasm, then I have a suggestion...........................
