Gr8won,
You are actually in a position to help all dirt bikers out. I'm sure you already know this, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. When you appear in court remember you are representing all of us. I would encourage you to dress appropriately, keep any temptations to stare down the defendant out of the courtroom, don't be dramatic, set quietly, show total respect to the court even if you disagree with something.
The judge is going to be sizing you up even before you take the stand. Don't exagerate anything, the judge will see through that immediately, he can also (usually) tell if your being honest and sincere. Be direct with your testimony, be convincing, look at the judge when you have something important to say, but don't insult the court by repeating the same thing over and over and most of all be Honest. Don't show animosity (hard to do) towards the defendant. Let the court see that you are the responsible land user here. If you feared for your life or safety, say so.
I don't mean to insult your intelligence in any way. I testify several times a week and simply want the best outcome possible for all of us in this case.
It's absolutely normal for you to get nervous when you take the stand. Your mouth may go dry, your tongue will get thick, your hands will shake, and your memory may slip, you will sweat like a whore in church and at times want to say anything just to get off the stand. To combat this go over your testimony several times. Anticipate what questions the defense attorney may throw at you, for example, " How do you know my client was shooting at you?"
Do the best you can and let the chips fall where they will. Doesn't hurt to have some support there with you, just make sure they contribute to your case by being appropraitely dressed and respectful in court.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Brad
PS - If this does not work a bat to the knees in the parking lot might. (lol)
