TOPIC: Knolls Results (preliminary)

Knolls Results (preliminary) 1 year, 11 months ago #94721

The Knolls KO results are now available at:
The Utah Desert Foxes website.

For those who did not receive their Knolls KO trophies, you can pick them up at the Firebirds race on March 27th.

NOTE: Due to the harsh weather conditions during the Mini race and the courage shown by the racers, the Foxes will be presenting trophies to all Mini racers – including DNF’s.

Aside from the workers that undoubtedly suffered to allow the rest of us to enjoy ourselves, I saw several acts of sportsmanship (like in most races) where riders were stopped to help a downed rider, and essentially gave up the race or a lot of positions.

One guy in our group of novices (#18V)--finished 166th over-all, was about 1/3-1/2 way down the last stretch to the finish and stopped to help the guy that appeared to break his collar bone. The guy was obviously in pain, lying in one of the two race paths available. Since there were exp/ams & novices all there at the same time, was helpful to have someone standing there to avoid them.

I don't know how many places he ended up giving up, but probably 20+ before he came in where he did.

The USRA has an end of the year sportsman award to reconize just such acts. Don't forget to nominate anyone you feel is deserving.

It's nice to see it happen at every race where someone is down, and that our priorities and perspectives are on the right track.

My stepson number 134F amateur crashed hard on the first loop and someone stopped to help and stayed with him till he felt good enough to ride back to the pits. He does not know who it was but would really like to thank him if anyone knows who it was. His wife and mom drove him to the Toelle hospital where he had internal bleeding and a concussion. They transfered him to U of U Medical Center. He spent the night for observation and was released in the morning. He will be fine but will be sore for a while and no riding for 6 weeks. I would like to thank the Foxes for their effort in very miserable conditions. Working a race in those conditions is worse than racing them. Thank you.

Nice job Foxes! You guys do a great job and the quick turnaround on the results is appreciated. I really like the format and presentation of both overall and class position. It's fun for everyone to see results close on the heals of the race when the excitement and enthusiasm is still there.....especially after such a tough one. Kudos and way to keep the minis a priority!

If he was the guy that was found unconscious, it was Levi Allen of the Foxes that found him and then stayed with him to make sure he was O.K.

Glad to know he is going to be O.K.

Reading this makes me want to become better qualified in first aid. At one race a long time ago I came across a rider down and two or three other racers were there. They were doing CPR. The man didn't make it. He was older and I believe he suffered a heart attack. It was something like 10 years ago.

Was wearing a green coat riding a blue yamaha. Also would like to hear what happened if anyone saw, i have no clue, ended up finishing the race, and other than being a little sore im good now!

That is awesome! My son, (606b) will be excited. I'm not sure how far he made it or which sweeper brought him or his bike back, but I'm glad they were looking out for him. It was his first desert race and I'm hoping a trophy will be enough encouragement to get him back out again soon.

15P Amateur Justin Fraughton stayed by his side while 182V Amateur Doyle Unsworth diverted racers. They stayed with him until Steve Pitts arrived and pinpointed their location via radio. Another gentleman on a four wheeler arrived with Steve and assisted with getting the bike started again when the 2 racers left him.
