For this race at Knolls I turned our air filters inside out and started to oil them from the inside until I could see the oil bleed through to the outside. He also suggested rather than tearing the foil off of the lid, you make a slit in it and use the bottle to evenly pour it out a little bit slower. Saves making a huge mess of things.

I have also had him explain to me and a few others where my registration money goes. It still pisses me off but I at least have a better understanding of why it pisses me off!!!

I hear you man, I've only been on here four months or so, and have already learned quite a bit. I don't have the internet at home and just have my lunch hour to look at it. Alan's info on land use is a big deal to me and greatly appreciated.

If there is anything that I can teach you it would be this.....

If the gas tank on your bike holds more than 1.9 gallons it is classified as a "homo tank"

Yeah, and if your fuel tank holds less than three gallons it's considered useless.

AJP taught me that when racing also turn your gas on to reserve before you start the race (if you have a reserve).

I never thought about that but it makes a TON of sense.

Having a "reserve" on your gas tank also puts it into the "homo tank" class.

Alan taught me that if you are going to complain about course marking in the finish shoot you had better have been a race chairman and belong to a club. Thank goodness I have and I am.

AJP taught me:

You can't steer the ship if you jump off it.

You sleep with hores you end up with a disease.

Wear steel toed boots in life. Your feet will get stepped on and you will step on others.

BOO-YAH!

AJP taught me that, "only true desert & trail riders have kickstands"...that's a line he used in in the pre race riders meeting back at the 03' SageRiders/Bookcliff Rattlers Chimney Rock race.

#1 O.C.D. (as far as retaining and organizing data) is a good thing.
#2 O.C.D. (as far as bike, vehicle, shop organization and cleanliness) is also a good thing.
#3 Trail riding and Geo-caching can mix. (it gives guys like me a chance to catch up and catch my breath).

#4 THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!

Some people can tolerate a great deal of rejection, disappointment, being stabbed in the back and kicked in the balls, when it comes to dealing with and fighting for land use issues.

THANKS FOR GETTING BACK UP WHEN YOU'RE BEAT DOWN.
