Hope you're tall. I'm 5' 11" and I feel very short sitting on those Husqvarna's. I know those 510's are pretty sweet, but Husky's just sit so high..

I've known a couple people that had the 510, I've heard good things. I think there's a few things you need to do to them, read the set up tips from Scott Summers here-> www.dirtbikemagazine.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?...4C2AA7906490B9DED4BD

Thanks for the link's. I am spooked about buying an oddball, newer bike... I bought an 02 CRF450 and that thing was a money pit, ran great, just cost a fortune to keep it that way.

I happen to have a 2010 510 TXC in stock. Right now the only demo's I have are a TE 310 and a TXC 450. I would be happy to let you ride the 450. Not just across the parking lot but in the real world. Everybody that has ridden it loves it !
Keep in mind BMW now owns Husqvarna and the Nightmare days of Cagiva are gone.
Also in years past if you bought 3 bikes and a thousand dollars of parts you could be a dealer.
Thus places like joes lawnmower and Husky ! that folded in 6 months. Those days are gone the requirements are much tougher and we are here to stay!

Those 2 bikes would be interesting to take on some real world rides..

Re:Husqvarna 1 year, 11 months ago #94318

my brother is a husky dealer in terreton idaho (sage motorsports). that said i bought a new txc 510 fastest bike i have ever ridden. the new kayaba fork are a huge plus with more tuning choices. the bike was quite different from mmy ktm 505 rode more like the 530 but with much more mid to top end pull. never having owned a long stroke motor it was tough to get used to revs slower and winds down slower. the maintenance items listed in the scott summers article are a must trust me. if i had it to do again i would get the 450 which still has more horses than the japanese 450's. great bikes and with a few changes will be awesome, husky is on the way back. now with ty davis doing r&d good things are in store.

Thanks for you intrest in the husky's First off I don't want to get into trouble with the site for advertising. I am the lead mechanic at the dealership, I am not in sales nor am I the owner.
I can't give you prices, you'll have to come in and talk to sales or give them a call.
However anything I do say is straight up and from a dez racer/ mechanic of over 35 yrs.

I am in charge of doing demo rides and the way I do it is meet you and your buddies at whatever spot you choose on a sunday or monday. I bring a couple bikes and we go play. Just call the shop and ask!

Right now I have a TE310 (fuel Inj,elec start, 6 spd) and a TXC 450 (carburated,elec start,6 spd)

The 310 is amazing and fills a much needed hole for guys who don't like to wring a 250's neck all day
the motor is smooth and will tractor around on the bottom like a 450 but doesnt have the sting of the big bike.

The 450 and 510 are just plain animals! very smooth and linier but pull to the moon. these things will pull a silt bed in 6th gear like my old KX 500 with a built motor. at the same time I rode the 510 in tight single track and it never overheated or had any clutch fade
I sent Shawn Strong out on the 450 and he said he never did find the top of 6th.

I,ll be at the Knolls race this weekend pitting with the Foxes club. You are welcome to come park with us and demo your bikes. I,de like to see the 2 stroke lineup, particularly the 300 with the KYB stuff.

OK lets catch up. Sorry but for some reason I can't seem to log on at work.
First I won't have a 300 2 stroke for a couple more weeks. Right now I have a WR 125 and a WR 250 2 stroke both 09's.
I will bring the truck to knolls on sat morning and park with the Foxes!
I will give fox club riders first dibs on test rides and I will also talk to parts about sending some swag for the first couple club members that cross the line.
I will be bringing a TXC 450 - TE 310 and the NEW TC 250! all availible to ride.
Plus a couple bikes to display
I might even sign up and race the over 50 class. I'll talk to my back!

My buddy back on the coast rides a '08 510TXC. He loves it and it's been a reliable machine. I personally don't care for it, especially compared to the KTM. If you miss the old school 4T feel, like XR600ish, you may prefer the Husky. It's plenty fast, don't get me wrong, but compared to other modern 4T's the 510 is a low end torque monger. It just falls a bit flat where other bikes start to sing. It's also a bit heavy, but feels VERY heavy. I'm all for trying something new, but if you liked your 525 much, the 510 doesn't measure up IMO.

I assume they have made some good changes in that last 2 years. I do know that the TC250 is the lightest 250F made....these bikes are pretty sweet

Yeah the 08 TXC's were their first foray with that model and they were in the midst of changing things up a bit, but they've made some significant improvements since then. They do have the more old school 4T power - not as much snap etc - but they now feel more like the modern 4T's when you're riding them. They are still on the heavy side, but not as much. They're very well balanced and then handle amazingly, you only notice the weight if you drop it and have to pick it up, but then, it's marginal how much heavier it is at that point.

If you race USRA Desert you should really consider riding a husky - they pay a pretty decent contingency for the series. I also like them because they believe in kick + electric start and a 6 speed tranny (on their desert/enduro bikes - the moto bikes are more standard 5 speed kick only).

Any dealer willing to go where you ride and let you TRULY do a test ride is thumbs up in my book. Specially if you can test ride on the course after the race on the type of stuff you like to ride. Hats off. I have an 08' ktm 505xcf and when I bought it I took a chance based on some very preliminary opinions. I went from a 525mxc which to me is the best all around bike I have owned to date. What I got was a bike that accelerates wicked fast, a lot lighter, and cornered easier. What I don't like is that this bike is a handful in the tight stuff. So, if you can test ride a bike at a location you choose (within reason) take it! I think the new Huskies look awesome. For a long time now I have chosen to stick with KTM simply because I have felt they gave the best selection for what I want and seem to have the best quality in the long run. Nothing against the Jap bikes but I think they are in it for the money and to sell track bikes that everyone has to spend nearly the same as a KTM to modify for offroad. No bike comes out of the box perfect, but KTM has it as close as it gets offroad. It is cool to see them starting to get some competition from Husky. Go for the test ride!

Isn't it also the least powerful by around 4 ponies?

I am heading back out to knolls today (RACE DAY) with the Husky Demos. Because of the mandatory NO RIDE for Racers prior to the event. I will be heading out about start time and plan on staying untill dusk.

Thank You everyone who rode one yesterday! I think everybody had a good time. I heard several comments, thats good, thats why were here . Remember these bikes are straight out of the Box
I don't think anybody had an issue with horsepower, other than the 450 and 510 will peel your eyelids back!
