TOPIC: Am I nuts? Built trick XRR and already thinking ab

Am I nuts? Built trick XRR and already thinking ab 1 year, 11 months ago #94137

...about trading or selling to build my next project!

I found this clean XR650R, decided to build the ultimate XRR bike and threw thousands of bucks on this thing. It's practically brand new, with every detail done right. So why am I already tired of it?

My wife says I have a sickness. I don't know, I'm just frustrated.
Am I nuts for thinking about selling/trading my restored and tricked XR650R for a 450X? I love this bike but can't help think about the same power but 50 lbs lighter!

I'm rather surprised that a 450X would have the same power.

XR technology is old school. I wouldnt be surprised at all if the 450 has more HP

Old school or not, I'd trade the motor life of that old school bike over any HP 4 Stroke I've had. I maintain my bikes, but I don't like the thought that any sort of rebuild will end my riding immediately for the year. My finances won't support it right now.

OFFTOPIC - Fngeniusshan, personally, I've never had a beef with you and therefore never given you
bad Karma. However, the above comment should be an answer to your previous post about some of the
hate you've been receiving from the board.

ONTOPIC - michelangelo, you know very well that you'll never get near the money back that you've
spent on tricking that 650 out. I say keep it so that when the 450 sucks a valve, needs a piston
or any of the other very good breakdown possibilities that can occur with a HP, modern
4-stroke(especially Honda ), you've still got something to ride while you're waiting for your
loan approval to come in.

Could be, except for the fact I posted this after the Bozos started dinging my Karma. That being said, I apologize to the responsible quad riders out there. I was just toying with the Dawg. Thanks for clearing this up. Regards, FnShan

I've already got an e-start Husky TC250 that now breathes with an Athena big bore (295cc) kit, desert tank and other mods for tighter single track. I'm just missing that tweener bike.
And I just bought a Buell S-1 White Lightning, which brings my bike totals to 6.5. It'll have to be next year before i can slip another bike into the stable without selling one off.

To answer the original question... I'm assuming the photo is taken at your residence, which appears to be a town home/condo or something like it. And now you're saying you've got 6.5 bikes. So I'd first say you're not nuts. YOu've got priorities much better than me. While I like a bigger yard, I don't really enjoy yard work like some people, and I'd much rather spend my time/money on bikes!

I think you should just sell it, probably cheep. I'd like first dibs!

How do you end up with a 0.5 bike? Are half the parts missing, or is it just half the bike it ought to be?

The .5 of a bike is an RD400 roadracer me and my dad built years ago. Tracked it down 2 years ago and it was half in pieces. It's still in half pieces up in Idaho waiting to be rebuilt and restored.
