What do you guys suggest for tires for a 15 year old rider on a crf 250r? I like to ride jordan river five mile pass, Farmington canyon, knolls, cherry creek. Whats a nice tire that will hold up for a while?

thanks,
Honda Man

I used a Dunlop 952 for years they seem to last a long time and hook up in the corners. I recently bought a ktm and it has a Brigstone M402 that I really like but they do not make them anymore so I am probably back to the 952. Just my opinion.

I've run the Bridgestone 403/404 with good results. Just bought the Dunlop 756 front and rear from Rocky Mountain, we'll see how they wear......for the price, couldn't pass it up.

You might also consider Michellin Star Cross MH2. I do primarily desert and tried a number of tires and have found the Mich's hold up like no other and absolutely no chunking. I like them so much I have a hard time considering any other tires, even those on sale. Just my two cents.
Seize the day, not the bike!

I used the Dunlop 756 for years, then switched to the Dunlop 952 similar tread pattern to the 756 but a little firmer rubber and it lasts a lot longer. I got a bunch of Maxis tires from my brother and we are running them now seem to hold up as well as the Dunlop. I'm not a great rider but my son rides intermediate and seems to think all 3 tires I mentioned work well for the dirt around here.

The Maxxis Desert IT holds up great, it does chunk a little but nothing too major. The other tire I've heard is a long lasting tire is the Dunlop 739A/T. It's a desert carcass like the Maxxis so it holds up a bit better. I've been running the Dunlop 756 and that tire is toast in only a couple good rides, I'd skip it (even though you can get it pretty cheap).

The Maxis is far superior to the Dunlop Desert AT. The Dunlop desert AT is too heavy and too expensive and lasts only as long as the Maxis. Buy the Maxis IT.

I'm becoming very fond of the Kenda Parker DT both front and rear. Great hookup and seem to be wearing very well. Oh, and Hello everyone!

All my life I always rode cheap, and mostly used tires. Then when I had my CR250 I got my first ever set of new tires. I got some Dunlop 952s, and they were awesome. I rode at least 4 times a month, whether it be Jordan River, Knolls, Delle, or any other Track in UT, they held up for a long time and performed really well. I dont fancy myself a person that can really tell the difference between tires, but I can obviously tell when a tire is worn out. And the 952s still had the paint line on some parts after A LOT of riding.

Thus, Id highly recommend them!
