Hey I'm new to racing and think it looks like a ton of fun to race pit bikes. I noticed that they have some pit bikes classes in the indoor races this winter up in Heber and in Farmington. Are there any just low key races over the summer? Also, what are the rules? Can you have any size pit bike? anyone that races pit bikes locally I would love any info and what kind of bike you ride.
Thanks

I raced my pit bike last year at wintercross, and it was pert fun. Rear wheel size is the only thing you have to worry about, engine size size dosen't matter.

I used to be pretty big in the Pitbike scene in its glory days out in California. Raced a number of races including the Mini Moto SX in Vegas a few times.
I have yet to pull the pitbikes out since I made the move to Utah but I think its about time to get them going again. Out in Cali the classes are broken down by rear wheel size and then CC. Example 10" Stock, 10" 88 superstock, 10" open, etc.
The reason they go by rear wheel size is with all the Chinese makes and models out there it made it impossible to call it by the make or original CC.
Your most common classes are 10" and 12" rear. 10" being bikes starting off as or modeled after a 50cc CRF50, etc. or 12" being bikes starting off as or modeled after a 110CC KLX.

Most of the pit bike racing here in Utah that I've seen has been basically an A class, B class and Womens. Size of the bike/wheel haven't been a part of it.

Got ya. Bummer part about that is then the best bike is likely to win. Not best rider. I'm sure this is because they don't get the amount of entries needed to split up the classes.

they run two classes, A and B
come on out and race with us,, my sons and I will be there racing (i am 45 and have a good time on the pitbikes, sometimes more fun than my big bike,)
there are also other events during the year too.

Late summer there is a small series for pit bikes in Morgan. Pitster Pro takes part and they get several good riders in the different wheel sizes. I'm not one of them, but the racing has been pretty good in the couple yrs it's been going.
