my first single track experience

I did the trail pretty much from end to end. I really like the southern half the best. I went in the summer and it was really hot. This was my first single track ride (novice rider) I have since done Ogden skyline and Hobble creek as well. I would describe this single track as one of the tighter ones. the trail is narrower and I rode it alot slower than the others. This would be my last piok of the 3. I loved it though!

Good Times!

This was a really fun trail. We came through Grantsville and turned south on 400 W. We came up Willow Canyon Rd, just 3-5 miles south of Grantsville. There are a few places to stop and unload but we chose Davenport. Davenport splits the trail so we ended up riding one side, coming back and then riding the other. The south side is less rocky and more fun. There are several side trails along the way. Be sure to head west on a jeep road which eventually leads to an abandoned mine. Nothing on this trail is very difficult, just a good recreational ride. Take snacks, friends and have fun!

Nice Ride!

We parked at Davenport which is in the middle of the trail toward the north end of the trail. It is straight up south willow canyon road. You can park at other parts of the trail but we just started at Davenport. From there we went north and rode to the end of the trail and then came back to our truck. That portion of the trail was an okay ride but very rocky and rough and didn't give you the opportunity to corner or go very fast. To the south was a much better ride. Still some rough spots but you could go faster and really get into some of the corners. Up above the first campground toward the south of Davenport you can go up to an old abandoned mine and enjoy that, but as always with old mines.....be careful and take a flashlight and a friend and enjoy it. When you come to the breaks in the trail just look for where the trail continues as it should be across the road, campground, or by the wooden information signs. There are bathrooms in the campgrounds and plenty of shade to relax for lunch or a drink. It is beautiful forest and rocky mountains so go and enjoy it.

Start at West Canyon, total trail 25 miles long (o

The best way to ride this trail is to start from West Canyon. From Grantville, continue west on Main Street and follow the road out of town, the road will curve to the NW, take the second road on the left, it is marked with a sign "West Canyon", its asphalt/gravel for a mile, then a rough dirt road. Drive up a little way, the park and get on the motorcycle. Ride up the road for a mile to the trailhead. From West Canyon trailhead, the Stansbury trail (trail #31), is about 1/2 mile, look on south side for the sign. The trail is extremely rocky in west canyon and in other parts of the trail. There are some sharp switch backs here and there... lots of off camber traversing. The trail can be a little tricking finding when it drops into the paved campground areas, you just have to ride around and look very closely for the continuing trail head marker/signs. Total length about 25 out, then back another 25 miles (following the same trail). It's a good ride, takes about 5 hours round trip with breaks and lunch.
